Signed Bahrain Race Used Alpine F1 Helmet
Alonso’s first race-used helmet of the 2022 Formula 1 season.
This Bell HP 77 helmet was worn by Fernando Alonso during the 2022 Bahrain GP while driving for the Alpine F1 team. It was also used as the backup helmet for Jeddah. Alonso would qualify in 8th and finished the race in 9th place… scoring his first points in what was the first race of the season. The helmet was acquired directly from Alonso and still has visor tear-offs attached, just as it was when it was last used.
Alonso is best known for his back-to-back World Drivers’ Championships with Renault in 2005 and 2006. He would win seven races in each of those Formula One seasons, for a total of 17 with the team.
The Spaniard debuted in F1 in 2001 with Minardi, and would go on to score his first pole in his second race with Renault in 2003, in Malaysia.
His first victory would then come in the Hungarian Grand Prix that same year, with his most recent win coming at his home race at Catalunya in 2013 for Scuderia Ferrari.
Alonso won 11 F1 races while driving for the Ferrari and another 4 with McLaren — for a total of 32 victories, which ranks him sixth all-time. His natural talent and innate ability to adapt with different teams over different time periods continues to this day with the Alpine F1 team. The perfect illustration of this was when Alonso was poised to win the 2017 Indianapolis 500 in his maiden start, but engine trouble befelled him on Lap 179 of 200. He would finish 29th, after having started fifth, and led 27 laps in a McLaren-sponsored Andretti Autosport car.
The helmet has been signed by Alonso, with the race noted as well.
The helmet comes with a Certificate Of Authenticity.
